Hylton has been engaged in litigation (both High Court and Arbitration) for over 35 years. A number matters in which he has been involved have resulted in precedent setting judgments. Apart from the construction and engineering industry, he has represented and advised blue-chip corporate clients (including international corporations) in the manufacturing, mining, insurance, financial services, and IT industries. Hylton has acted for Sabax in the alleged contaminated IV fluid deaths, the Chloorkop toxic waste disposal site application and in matters involving exchange control contraventions, the misappropriation of foreign assets and asbestosis related issues. More recently he has been involved in advising clients in the bids for the Gautrain and the Dube Trade Port projects.

Hylton specialises in construction and engineering, competition and anti-trust, healthcare (providers and funders) and pharmaceutical, environment protection and pollution, mining, insurance (aviation, life and pensions), and general commercial litigation and arbitration.

He is a member of the Environmental Lawyers Association in South Africa.

Hylton has been endorsed by Practical Law Company for Dispute Resolution in 2009.
