Janine specialises in commercial and corporate law with a specific focus on consumer law, franchising and competition.
Her recent experience includes:
- Advising an international beauty house in the prestige market on the implications of competition law with relation to the proposed repositioning of their brand in South Africa.
- Advising large retailers, wholesalers and distributors on the impact of the Consumer Protection Act on their particular industry, as well as drafting and amending contracts to coincide with the recent changes. The industries included media, automotive and franchising to name a few.
- Preparing a merger filing to the Competition Commission with regard to an intermediate merger of established coal companies.
- Advising well-known franchisors of local and international brands in respect of disclosure documents, franchise agreements and general contractual issues, particularly in relation to the new consumer legislation.
