Candice has specialist experience in personal injury litigation, including motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, public liability and claims against the state. She has represented both plaintiffs and defendants.
Her recent experience includes:
- Successfully suing a gynaecologist for leaving a surgical swab in a client's uterus following a hysterectomy. The swab had turned septic and caused infection and necessitated further surgical procedures to be removed.
- Suing a well-known restaurant chain on behalf of a client in a public liability claim. The client fractured his wrist after he fell over a peg the restaurant had inserted in the ground to secure table covers.
- Suing the state (Minister of Police) for compensation in a matter where a client was hit by a stray bullet which lodged in his spine during a shoot-out.
- Suing a shopping centre in a public liability claim on behalf of a client who slipped and injured her back on wet tiles during rainy weather.
- Representing a client, who had been admitted to casualty to remove glass pieces after an accident, in a medical negligence case. We were successful in our claim against the treating doctor, who had failed to remove one piece of glass that eventually severed a nerve, causing permanent damage to her foot.
She also co-ordinates the firm’s pro bono activities.
