Eversheds, previously known as Routledge Modise, has appointed Lavery Modise as its deputy chairman.
Says Terry Mahon, chairman of the firm: “Lavery Modise, who heads up the firm’s employment law department, has been an integral part in making the firm what it is today. Part of Lavery’s portfolio will be to develop the firm’s vision and implement our strategies and mentoring programmes. He will also be instrumental in inculcating the firm's culture and enhance our internal communication.”
Says Lavery Modise: “The firm’s culture is based on respect for staff, colleagues and clients. We take transformation seriously and don’t believe in window-dressing. Transformation is not just recruiting black lawyers, but mentoring and nurturing them to develop independent thinkers and decision makers. We also make an effort to create the right environment where we can utilise our diversity to create synergy for the benefit of our clients.”
Lavery Modise joined the firm in 1998 when his firm Mlambo & Modise merged with Routledges to become Routledge Modise.
