Fiona Bolton, partner at international law firm Eversheds, has been awarded “outstanding solicitor of the year” at the Black Solicitors Network (BSN) awards ceremony held in Central London, UK.
The awards recognise members of the network who have excelled in the last 12 months and best represent and reflect the aspirations and achievement of BSN in working towards an equal profession, inspiring and representing the best of black talent and achievement. The BSN is a Law Society recognised group.
The legal profession is often maligned for its lack of diversity. However, these awards present a unique opportunity for the profession to take credit for some of the good work, excellent initiatives and diversity champions that are all helping to change things for the better.
Lavery Modise, Deputy Chairperson at Eversheds South Africa says: "It is not just in South Africa that we recognise the need for diversity and inclusion. Throughout the Eversheds group we consider this a priority, as this award testifies."
Eversheds Chairman John Heaps, who also chairs the firm’s Diversity Steering Committee commented: “As a firm, we are committed to promoting diversity and inclusion. We are absolutely thrilled that Fiona has been recognised as outstanding at these prestigious industry awards, it is a real testament to her notable achievements.”
